Social music app Humit raises pre-seed funding from Antler India
BENGALURU: Social music platform Humit announced on Monday that it has raised pre-seed funding led by early stage venture capital firm Antler India.
He also received co-investments from First Check led by Farooq Adam (co-founder, Fynd), and several angels such as Alagu Periyannan (CTO, Bluejeans), Sarath Sura (co-founder, Sierra Atlantic), Ankit Mathuria ( CTO, Oyo Rooms), Gajendra Jangid (co-founder, CARS24), Kshitij Khandelwal (co-founder, Pixxel) among others.
Humit said he is making music a first social experience by allowing users to share the most powerful moments of their favorite songs, create micro-communities, and interact with other music lovers in whole new ways.
Unlike traditional streaming platforms which use algorithms to deliver recommendations, it relies on a community-driven approach where music is discovered and shared on user-moderated channels called “stations”. The platform currently houses more than 500 user-created stations in 42 countries.
Founded last year by BITS Pilani graduates Rohit Ganapathy, Prithvi Sankar and Ishaan Negi, Humit’s idea took shape after the trio realized that existing social platforms used to share music were not ideal. for audio consumption.
Humit also provides an audio-centric social media experience for Spotify users, with integrations between Apple Music, YouTube Music, and SoundCloud currently underway.
